Time : 4 h
Difficulty : Difficult
This challenging hike begins at the Basilica in the heart of Echternach. It leads first through the picturesque Halergaass, a pedestrian street with shops and restaurants. Then you go steeply uphill to the viewpoint Trooskneppchen with a picturesque view of Echternach. Shortly thereafter, the trail passes the imposing "Wollefsschlucht" gorge, where a detour high up on the rock "Paulsplatte" is worthwhile. On an idyllic forest path, the hike continues through the Aesbaachtal. Halfway along the route, the cave Huel Lee and the amphitheater, former millstone quarries, are reached. The hike can also be started at the parking lot close to the Huel Lee. Along further imposing rock formations like Wëlkeschkummer and Geierslee it goes back to Echternach. The trail is marked in both directions and can therefore be walked in the opposite direction, too.
