The tour is accessible from 31 July and 1 August 2021 and comprises two parts: from the P&R Junglinster, there’s a western tour via Larochette and an eastern tour via Echternach.
The eastern route follows the PC2 national cycle path, which is on the former railway line beween Echternach and Luxembourg City. From the abbey town of Echternach, the route follows the Sûre river on the PC3 national cycle path to Grundhof and then into the valley of the Black Ernz.
There will be food and drink stands at the Heringer Millen, at the youth hostel in Echternach, in the centre of Larochette, on the route above Medernach and at other points along the tour. There will also be information stands at Heringer Millen and guided bike tours will be on offer. Bicycles can be rented from Rentabike in Grundhof.
Enjoy the view of Larochette Castle along the western route. Cultural highlights on the eastern route are the market square and abbey of Echternach.
Even if you are travelling on roads with reduced traffic, follow the traffic regulations and bear in mind that residents and farmers may cross your path.

Along the “Vëlosummer” routes, cyclists can collect stickers and win great prizes. When you buy something, have a drink, eat or pay admission at one of the participating businesses, you receive a sticker. You can stick these on a collection card in the handy postcard format (available in the participating businesses). Once you’ve collected five stickers, you can enter the competition by sending in the card.
From the P&R Junglinster, you can also take the 47 km long eastern tour via Echternach. The ride past the villages of Beidweiler, Zittig and Rippig offers you beautiful panoramic views over the valley. Then you reach Bech and cross the former railway tunnel – a real highlight and also very refreshing in hot weather. You then descend on the PC2 national cycle path via Scheidgen and Lauterbur to the abbey town of Echternach, from where you continue along the Sûre on the PC3 cycle path via Weilerbach and Bollendorf-Pont to Grundhof, and then into the valley of the Black Ernz. In Mullerthal you can take a short break at the Heringer Millen and visit the mill museum. Pass the Schiessentümpel waterfall and the Kallektuffquell spring to the Reilander Millen and then back to Junglinster.
By bus to the P&R in Junglinster. The round trip can also be started at other places, e.g. Echternach, Larochette, Mullerthal and Grundhof.
