In the “Schetzelklaus” cave in the Grünewald forest
The hermit who lived in the Grünewald forest almost 900 years ago knew how to interpret the signs of nature. The former Father Schetzel wanted to spend the last years of his life alone "in the bosom of Mother Nature". When it got too cold, he found shelter in the neighbouring farms. He was on loan for a return: he received food and a place to sleep; in return, the locals could always ask him for advice. You can follow in his footsteps by visiting his cave, "Schetzelklaus", and the nearby spring of the same name. Perhaps you too will be inspired by a simple life in harmony with nature.
This offer is proposed to you by Visitluxembourg.
The Gréngewald circular hiking trail starting at Waldhaff leads directly past the hermitage.
