Description
Sporty tour, accessible on 30-31 July 2022, along rivers and through open land. Highlights: exciting museums, Larochette Castle and the largest mushroom in Luxembourg!
This sporty tour runs along the banks of three rivers, the Alzette, the White Ernz and the Sauer, mostly following old railway routes. In the open terrain literally bursting with highlights, it is made more challenging thanks to two longer inclines. There is much to explore along the way: in Larochette, enjoy the climb up to the imposing castle on foot, and visit the two exciting museums, the General Patton Memorial Museum and the National Museum of Military History. Above Nommern, take a short detour to the largest fungus in Luxembourg: the mushroom! A rock formation with a special shape that gives an impression of the unique geology of the region.
Food and beverage stalls in Larochette and above Medernach invite you to take a break.

Directions
The tour starts in Ettelbrück at the train station and then leads to Cruchten on the PC15 national cycle path via Schieren. From Cruchten, cycle uphill on the road that is closed to traffic to Schrondweiler, traverse the plateau and then cycle downhill to Medernach into the White Ernz Valley. There, the tour runs along the valley floor on the PC5 to Larochette, where another incline on a traffic-free road leads to the village of “Scherfenhaff”. From there, the route leads past numerous farms and down to the towns of Eppeldorf and Bigelbach to the next valley: the Sauertal. Here in the valley, the tour retraces a national cycle path, the PC3, and then from Reisdorf turns into the PC16. Return to Ettelbrück via Moestroff and Diekirch. This circular tour is best cycled clockwise, but the other direction is also possible as the route is marked in both directions.
