Once a year, on a summer weekend, the cozy village of Contern turns into a Mecca for comic fans. The International Comic Festival takes place in mid-July and enjoys an excellent reputation amongst the friends of the ninth art that reaches far beyond the borders of the Grand Duchy.
You should not think that this sympathetic municipality rests on its laurels after that! Do not miss the fifth edition of the International Wheelchair Rugby Tournament at the end of July. Nor should you miss the popular apple festival that takes place in October, which includes a local market and a production of "viz", the typical Luxembourgish unfiltered apple juice. Also highly recommended is the beer festival in Moutfort in June, where the small breweries and the master brewers of the region show off their skills and products.
Throughout the rest of the year, you can explore the municipality of Contern on foot or by bicycle. If you do so, you should be prepared to see the head of an extraordinary bird peeping out of the fields and meadows! You may end up on the local ostrich farm. There, you can take a tour to the birds and taste the farm’s own products.
Is it going to rain? In that case, there is no reason to be in a bad mood, as you can bridge the day at the Jumpbox trampoline park, where you can combine both fitness and pleasure.
